Introducing Queensland Jazz Archive President Neville Meyers

Given Neville’s extensive jazz writing over a fifteen-year period for The Courier Mail and occasionally Jazz Magazine, I suggested to Neville that he include a varied proportion of his writings on our Queensland Jazz Archive Website. As it turns out the great majority of his published articles have been focused on the Brisbane jazz scene between 1984 and 2000.

Neville has been teaching jazz history for the past ten years at both the Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University) and in other settings at QUT and The University of Queensland. In short, Neville’s writings during his 15-year career as part-time Arts (Jazz Writer), predominantly for The Courier Mail, provide an interesting recorded backdrop to changing Brisbane jazz developments including the emergence of younger players and their divergent styles.

Sincere thanks Neville for offering your time and efforts to add to the range of jazz reportage for our QJA Website!
